Praise the LORD, all you nations. Praise him, all you people of the earth.

“This is the shortest song in the whole collection, but there is none greater or grander in its expression of praise.” – G. Campbell Morgan
“Martin Luther devoted thirty-six pages to this psalm, expounding it in four important categories: (1) prophecy (the Gentiles will participate in gospel blessings), (2) revelation (the kingdom of Christ is not earthly and temporal but rather heavenly and eternal), (3) instruction (we are saved by faith alone and not by works, wisdom, or holiness), and (4) admonition (we should praise God for such a great salvation).” – James Montgomery Boice
We clearly see evangelism in Psalm 117. The psalmist wants, not only Israel to praise the Lord, but all nations. If all nations are to praise Him, then all nations must know Him.
- His love is not only unfailing, but it is also powerful.
- His faithfulness endures forever.
We must tell the message of God… we must evangelize so all the nations, all the people of the earth can praise.
No matter what nationality, culture, color, greed, or socio-economic status… evangelize.
“But where the love of God is strong in the heart, it overleaps the bounds of custom and racial prejudice, and yearns that all the world should know and love the Saviour.” – F.B. Meyer
- Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:19-20 (ESV)
- And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.“
Mark 16:15 (ESV)
- “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.“
Acts 1:8 (ESV)
- For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16 (ESV)
- But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15 (ESV)
If telling the nations mattered to Jesus, telling the nations should matter to us.
I love when God repeats Himself… especially when He uses exact words.
- The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation.
Psalm 118:14 (ESV)
- The LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.
Exodus 15:2 (ESV)
- The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
Psalm 28:7 (ESV)
- “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2 (ESV)
If telling the nations mattered to Jesus, telling the nations should matter to me.
