Psalm 107:1-2

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true wisdom.All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom.Praise him forever!

Psalm 111:10

• The Psalms are divided into five books.
• Each book in the Psalms corresponds to a book of the Pentateuch and matches the theme.
• Psalm 107 introduces the fifth book that corresponds with Deuteronomy.
• Deuteronomy is the book of the Second Law.
• The New Testament explains that the First Law is the law of sin and death.
• Paul says the Second Law is the law of the spirit of life in Christ which sets us free from the First Law.
• The Second Law is the way that God redeems His people.
• The love of God which never lets us go, breaks us from our rebellion, and sets us free is the theme of Psalm 107.
• God accepts us as we are and then begins to make us what we are longing to be.
• The psalmist opens with praising God’s steadfast love and brings forth testimony to prove it.
• There are four testimonies of how God delivered, and the circumstances from which people were delivered.
• Looking for a city: restless, uncertain, looking for answers.
• Rebellious: sit in darkness and gloom, no hope, held prisoner by a stronghold.
• Sick: physically or emotionally sick.
• At their wits’ end: God sent a crisis.
• Remember.
• Testify!
