Scripture:

2 KINGS 15:32-38, 2 CHRONICLES 27:1-9, MICAH 1:1-16, 2 KINGS 16:1-9, 2 CHRONICLES 28:1-15, ISAIAH 7:1-25

Where Strength Is Found

King Jotham became powerful because he was careful to live in obedience to the LORD his God.
2 Chronicles 27:6

So Jotham grew mighty, for he ordered his ways in the sight of the LORD his God.
2 Chronicles 27:6 (AMPC)

Jotham’s strength was rooted in his steady and determined life of obedience to God.
2 Chronicles 27:6 (MSG)

My Take Aways

Something Old

  • How powerful would I be if I was careful to live in obedience to the Lord my God?
  • To what am I am setting myself straight toward.

My weakness could be directly related to my lack of obedience to God. Pray about my weakness like David.

  • Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; Cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I’m about; See for yourself whether I’ve done anything wrong— then guide me on the road to eternal life. What do I see as crossroads in front of me?
    Psalm 139:23-24 (MSG)

He could not have prepared his ways thus anywhere except at the mercy-seat. He must have been in the habit of taking his daily troubles to his God, and of seeking guidance from him in his daily difficulties, and of blessing him for his daily mercies. He must have been in constant communion with his God, or else he could not have ordered his ways aright before him.” – Charles H. Spurgeon

Mr. Spurgeon gives steps for strength and setting straight our ways:

  • Sit at the mercy seat and repent.
  • Seek His guidance and instruction in all things.
  • Spend time with Him every day.
  • Stay in constant contact with Him

I do not remember ever meeting one who really walked with God who did not make orderliness one of the first principles of life…. They are the habits of the soul that walks before God, and which is accustomed to think of Him as seeing in secret, and considering all our ways.” – F.B. Meyer

Something New

Isaiah had a son.

Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Take your son Shear-jashub and go out to meet King Ahaz.
Isaiah 7:3

Shear-jashub means “A Remnant Shall Return”. Do you think God was trying to give King Ahaz a walking and talking message?

Something To Do

Sit at the mercy seat and repent. Seek His guidance and instruction in all things. Spend time with Him every day. Stay in constant contact with Him
