No human wisdom or understanding or plan can stand against the LORD.
Proverbs 21:30
What does the Bible say about planning?
- Think things through, don’t be hasty
The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
Proverbs 21:5 (ESV)
- Commit your plans to the Lord.
Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.
Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)
- Leave room for flexibility.
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)
- Remember, no matter what we plan, God’s purpose will stand.
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.
Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)
- Bless everything with, “But not my will, but thine oh, Lord.”
Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise, you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.
James 4:13-16 (ESV)
“As rational agents we think, consult, act freely. We are dependent agents, and the Lord exercises his own power in permitting, overruling, or furthering our actions. Thus, man proposes, and God disposes.” – Charles Bridges
Oh, the troubles we would avoid if we would avoid alcohol.
Wine produces mockers; alcohol leads to brawls. Those led astray by drink cannot be wise.
Proverbs 20:1
What Your plan is, make the way and show it to me in Your perfect timing.
