Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!
Proverbs 6:6
“Far more culpable is the attitude of modern ‘clockwatchers,’ who have contracted to serve their employer and receive an agreed remuneration for their labor. But Christian slaves – or Christian employees today – have the highest of all motives for faithful and conscientious performance of duty; they are above all else servants of Christ, and will work first and foremost so as to please him.” – F. F. Bruce
About those ants:
- A single ant can carry 50 times its own body-weight, and they’ll even work together to move bigger objects as a group!
- Ants are the longest living insects.
- Ants don’t have ears, and some of them don’t have eyes!
- Ants don’t have lungs. Air enters and leaves through tiny holes all over their body.
- Ants dig nearly three kilometers of trails every year, investing an average of 11,000 hours into constructing and maintaining them.
- Build with no coordination at all. In other words: each ant seems to act alone, solving environmental problems such as removing obstructions as they are encountered.
What does the Bible say about work?
- Commit your work, whatever work it is, to the Lord.
Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.
Proverbs 16:3 (ESV) - Work like God is watching everything you do, which He is, and make Him proud.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV) - Don’t work for man’s applause or worldly recognition.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
Colossians 3:23 (ESV) - If you want to eat, you have to work.
For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.

You will say, “How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!”
