When Things Don’t Change

Year after year it was the same…

1 Samuel 1:7a

My Take Aways

Something Old

Year after year… nothing changed.

  • Peninnah was still mean.
  • Hannah was still barren.
  • Elkanah still made sacrifices.

In the year after year, when things don’t change:

  • Don’t stop praying.
  • Don’t stop hoping.
  • Don’t stop sacrificing.
  • Don’t take matters into your hands.
  • Don’t let others getting what you want get to you.
  • Stay focused on God and trust His timing.
  • Focus on the Person of your faith, rather than the object of your wait.

Yeah, I know, it’s easier said than done.

Something New

These are the most comforting words a husband could say to his wife.

“Why are you crying, Hannah?” Elkanah would ask. “Why aren’t you eating? Why be downhearted just because you have no children? You have me—isn’t that better than having ten sons?”
1 Samuel 1:8

Something To Do

Don’t let others getting what I want get to me.
