Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it over Saul’s head. He kissed Saul and said, “I am doing this because the LORD has appointed you to be the ruler over Israel, his special possession.”

1 Samuel 10:1

There was a wealthy, influential man named Kish from the tribe of Benjamin. He was the son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Becorath, son of Aphiah, of the tribe of Benjamin. His son Saul was the most handsome man in Israel—head and shoulders taller than anyone else in the land.

1 Samuel 9:1-2

• God had been a faithful king who protected and cared for His people.
• Israel wanted a human king to be like all the other nations.
• Samuel told the people what a human king would be like.
• Samuel told them they would one day want to be free from a king.
• Samuel obeyed God and anointed Saul as king.
• God had a purpose for allowing a human king for His people.
• Israel would come to realize over the coming centuries that only God should be their king.
• Failure after failure fills the chapters of the Old Testament.
• A King would come that would be man and God.
• This King would do what all the others would not.
• He would be righteous.
• He would die for His people.
• The Gospel writers make sure we recognize His identity.
• Matthew 27:11; Mark 15:2; Luke 23:3; John 18:33-34
• One day everyone will realize that He is King of all.
• On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords.
  Revelation 19:16

Remember as I look at history and my own time, that time is marching towards the revealing of the King of Kings and His eternal Kingdom! This world system is not it.
