Scripture:

NUMBERS 25:1-26:65

The Second Census

So these are the results of the registration of the people of Israel as conducted by Moses and Eleazar the priest on the plains of Moab beside the Jordan River, across from Jericho. Not one person on this list had been among those listed in the previous registration taken by Moses and Aaron in the wilderness of Sinai. For the Lord had said of them, “They will all die in the wilderness.” Not one of them survived except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
Numbers 26:63-65

My Take Aways

Something Old

One day a petition was presented by the daughters of Zelophehad—Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. Their father, Zelophehad, was a descendant of Hepher son of Gilead, son of Makir, son of Manasseh, son of Joseph
Numbers 27:1

Something New

  • The time was near.
  • The children of Israel stood in the plains of Moab across the Jordan River from Jericho.
  • None of those counted in the first census were counted in the second.
  • The generation of unbelief died in the desert.
  • Moses and Eleazar took the census.
  • Moses would not enter the Promised Land.
  • Eleazar would be the priestly leader for the new generation.
  • Joshua and Caleb would enter the Promised Land.
  • They had believed God.
  • They were faithful.
  • God promised.
  • He would be faithful.
  • He always is.
  • Believe Him.
  • Believe For It

Something To Do

Remember that God keeps all of His promises. Time goes by. We grow older. Life gets hard. We get discouraged. He is always faithful.
