Scripture:

NUMBERS 14:1-15:41

When I Don’t Get To Where I Was Going

And the Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them?“
Numbers 14:11

My Take Aways

Something Old

Contempt: Strong’s 5006 –  nâʼats (naw-ats’)

  • to spurn, contemn, despise, abhor

Abhor (Dictionary.com)

  • to regard with extreme repugnance or aversion; detest utterly; loathe; abominate.

Showing contempt:

  • drives us from God.
  • silences the voice of God.
  • invites discipline from God.

How do I react when I don’t get to where I was going?

  • Do I have a temper tantrum?
  • Do I take charge and do things my way?
  • Do I incite others to rebel against God?

Or

  • Do I evaluate my actions and attitude?
  • Do I repent of both and return to God?
  • Do I accept the consequences of my actions and live surrendered to God’s plan?

If though it doesn’t always feel like it, God’s correction is always administered with love.

Hebrews 12:6

  • For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child. (NLT)
  • For the Lord corrects and disciplines everyone whom He loves, and He punishes, even scourges, every son whom He accepts and welcomes to His heart and cherishes. (AMPC)

So, when I don’t get to where I was going: live in the love, grace, mercy, and joy of God. He always, even when He leaves you to face the consequences of your actions, has the best plan for your life.

Something New

I pray I always have a different attitude, a Caleb attitude, one of complete trust and confident in the plan of the God I serve.

But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the land he explored. His descendants will possess their full share of that land.
Numbers 14:24

Something To Do

When I don’t get to where I was going: live in the love, grace, mercy, and joy of God. He always, even when He leaves you to face the consequences of your actions, has the best plan for your life.
