“And now, Israel, listen carefully to these decrees and regulations that I am about to teach you. Obey them so that you may live, so you may enter and occupy the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you.
Deuteronomy 4:1-2

“If you obey all the decrees and commands I am giving you today, all will be well with you and your children. I am giving you these instructions so you will enjoy a long life in the land the LORD your God is giving you for all time.”

• The Promised Land is in sight.
• Moses will not enter.
• He will prepare the people.
• The book of Deuteronomy records the sermons of Moses during the forty day period before his death.
• Israel enters the land after thirty days of mourning for Moses.
• A new generation of Israelites was about to enter the land.
• They had not experienced the miracle of the Red Sea.
• They had not heard the law given at Sinai.
• They were entering a land of danger and temptation.
• Deuteronomy reminds them of God’s law and God’s power.
• Remember God’s faithfulness.
• Remember God’s holiness.
• Remember God’s blessings.
• Remember God’s warnings.
• Simple obedience brings blessing.
• Sin has consequences.
• God has a work for His people.
• Get ready.
