Scripture:

LEVITICUS 25:24-26:46

A Manner Of Life Full of Spin-Off Possibilities

If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands …
Leviticus 26:3

My Take Aways

Something Old

Yâlak (yaw-lak): Strong’s 3212:

  • to go, walk, come; to go, walk, come, depart, proceed, move, go away; to die, live, manner of life

If

  • a condition, requirement, or stipulation. A small word with big power.

Something New

The New Testament is also full of “if” obediences.

Eán (eh-an) (Strong’s 1437)

  • if, referring to a condition extending to its “spin-off” possibilities – i.e. that happen if the condition is actualized or is valid.

Understand the “spin-off” possibilities:

  • If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
    Romans 10:9
  • If you love me, obey my commandments.”
    John 14:15
  • By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
    John 13:35 (ESV)
  • But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
    1 John 1:9

If is used only in the NLT and doesn’t fall under the definition about.

  • If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.
    Matthew 10:39

Something To Do

Obedience is the only manner of life for the me.
