Multiple uses of clean, cleansing is also translated as purification. The Hebrews aren’t all the same in every case, there definitions cross over:
- to cleanse, purify: physically, ceremonially, morally
- pronounce clean
- to perform the ceremony of cleansing

- the act of making something free of guilt or evil
- the act or process of making something clean and fit for ceremonial or ritual use
Jesus is our High Priest
- So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.
Hebrews 4:14 - So also, Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you.”
Hebrews 5:5 (ESV) - He entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

Our High Priest pronounces us clean before:
- Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Isaiah 1:18 (ESV) - Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Psalm 51:7 (ESV) - But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
