So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And so, God willing, we will move forward to further understanding.

‍Hebrews 6:1-3

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

‍Hebrews 4:14-16

• The writer of Hebrews encourages Hebrew believers.
• These believers are wanting to return to the rituals and ways of Judaism.
• He is teaching about the supremacy of Christ in all things.
• He is also showing that there is no stopping in the walk of faith.
• There must always be growth.
• We cannot stay in the “baby stages” of faith.
• We understand the importance of repentance.
• We understand the sacrifice of Christ.
• We understand turning to faith in God by accepting the Gospel.
• We need to move forward in our understanding.
• We need to move to deeper things.
• We need to understand the implications of faith in our lives.
• We can’t be an infant forever.
• God has work for us to do, and we need to be prepared.
• We need to know Him.
• We need to know His ways.
• We need to seek Him more than anything else.

In the walk of faith, there is no standing still. You either move forward, or move backward. Keep moving forward, keep growing, and never stop until you see His face.
