Scripture:

ACTS 6:1-8:1

After All These Years

“You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit? That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!“

Acts 7:51

My Take Aways

Something Old

All about Stephen

After all that happened, the people hadn’t changed. They were still stiff-necked and stubborn.

  • Stiff necked: Six occurrences of this phrase in the Bible to describe God’s people.
  • Stubborn: Thirteen occurrences of this word in the Bible used to describe God’s people.

A few questions to ask myself after all these years:

  • Am I the same in faith as I have always been?
  • Do I put my hands over my ears when confronted with Holy Spirit’s conviction?
  • Does the truth change or offend me?
  • Does a message of truth cause me to want to stone the messenger, or repent to my Savior?
  • Must I continue to resist Holy Spirit?
  • Am unwilling to learn from my mistakes?

Something New

But one day some men from the Synagogue of Freed Slaves, as it was called, started to debate with him. They were Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and the province of Asia.
Acts 6:9

About the Synagogue for Freedom

Something To Do

Honestly ask myself the questions shared in this lesson.
