Scripture:

1 CORINTHIANS 16:1-24, ACTS 19:21-20:6, ROMANS 1:1-32

Missing The Obvious

They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them.

Romans 1:19

My Take Aways

Something Old

Interesting Quotes regarding the book of Romans:

  • When anyone understands this Epistle, he has a passage opened to him to the understanding of the whole Scripture.” – John Calvin
  • The most profound work in existence.” – Samuel Coleridge, English poet and literary critic
  • The cathedral of the Christian faith.” – Frederick Godet, Swiss Theologian, 19thCentury

For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their innerconsciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them.
Romans 1:19 (AMPC)

What has God made obvious to me that I have missed?

What excuse have I offered to myself and to God?

What needless circumstance have I created for myself because I

  • Chose to worship the created rather than the Creator
  • Claimed to be wise
  • Ceded to lies about God

For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
1 Corinthians 2:11-12 (NKJV)

For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:16 (NKJV)

Something New

At last the mayor was able to quiet them down enough to speak. “Citizens of Ephesus,” he said. “Everyone knows that Ephesus is the official guardian of the temple of the great Artemis, whose image fell down to us from heaven.
Acts 19:35

Who is Artemis? Very interesting short article. Enjoy.

Something To Do

Stay close to God through prayer and His Word, communicate constantly with the Father through the Spirit, and stand firm in my faith so that I never miss the obvious… and when I do, miss the obvious, I am quickened to conviction.
