I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

Galatians 1:6-10

Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.

Galatians 3:23

• Paul is writing to the church of Galatia.
• The Galatians were being influenced by false teachers known as Judaizers.
• The Judaizers were teaching a false gospel that depended on human efforts to make a person acceptable before God.
• This is the same false gospel taught today.
• We need to know the true gospel.
• Romans 3:19-24
• Our greatest human effort is not enough.
• Isaiah 64:6
• Being right with God comes from a gift of God that you can never pay.
• The gift is received by faith.
• Our lives are lived in response to this gift.
• Paul explains all of this throughout his letter to the Galatians.
• Paul will later explain the theology in this letter in a deeper and more detailed way in his letter to the Romans.
• Romans 3-5 specifically speaks to the issue of salvation by faith alone.
• Jesus plus nothing.
