His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?”He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them. That is why I use these parables,For they look, but they don’t really see. They hear, but they don’t really listen or understand.

Matthew 13:10-13

The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”

• The Church is a New Testament truth.
• The idea isn’t explained in the Old Testament.
• Jesus and Paul called the church, “the mystery.”
• Matthew 13 connects Messiah and His Kingdom with the New Testament Church.
• The seven parables of the Kingdom explain the authority of Christ.
• Jesus promised to give His faithful followers knowledge of His plan.
• His plan, the Church, had not been spelled out in the Old Testament.
• The new idea of Jew and Gentile together in one body, the church, was the mystery.
• The parables explain that the plan of God was the Church!!
• The Church is the Kingdom Outpost.
• The Church operates by the rules of the Kingdom, while still present among earthly Kingdoms.
• The Church points the way to our King.

Remember that as believers, we are part of the Bride of Christ. We serve Christ and attend His Bride while being members of it! Our lives have purpose as we prepare daily for the Bridegroom’s imminent return!
