I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one.
John 17:15
He prayed for Him.
He prayed for them.
He prayed for us.
If the world is so hard and God wants all the world to be saved and He loves us, then why does He leave us here after we accept Christ as a Savior.
If we were taken from the world:
- the world would be in utter darkness and would perish; Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” So, shine.
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
Ephesians 5:8 (ESV)
- the world would not have us as a witness, to be a means of salvation unto them. So, win others to Jesus.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.“
Mark 16:15-16 (ESV)
- we would be denied the opportunity to serve Jesus in the same place we have sinned against Him. So, serve Jesus.
Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
Psalm 100:2 ESV
- we would not see that there are aspects of God’s wisdom, truth, power and grace that are better appreciated on earth rather than in heaven. So, see the glory of the Lord.
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)
- we would be denied the place to prepare for heaven. There is no purgatory; our preparation is now. So, get ready for heaven.
Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
Colossians 3:2 (ESV)
- we could not show the power of God’s grace to preserve us in the midst of difficulty. So, continue on.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
He asks the Father to:
- Keep us safe
- Make us Holy by His truth
- Teach us by His Word, which is truth
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
Wow! I never thought of this verse in the light of this thought… He spoke this prior to the cross. He was a conqueror, and overcomer before the cross, not because of His resurrection.

Shine the light. Live life to win others to Christ. Serve Jesus. Look for the glory of God. Continue on and stay heavenly minded.
