Handling “Judge Lest You Be Judged”

For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

Matthew 7:2

My Take Aways

Something Old

Jesus offers a powerful motivator against hypocritical judgement: You will be judged in the same way you judge others.

We break this command when we

  • think the worst of others.
  • only speak to others of their faults.
  • judge an entire life only by its worst moments.
  • judge the hidden motives of others.
  • we judge others without considering ourselves in their same circumstances.
  • judge others without being mindful that we ourselves will be judged.

Handling the “judge lest you be judged” moments:

  • Critically examine myself.
  • Ask God to help you remove the speck from your eye.
  • Carefully examine their fruit.
  • Ask God how to show you how to demonstrate love, and grace without offering approval.

Something New

So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?
Luke 6:46

What a great question?

Something To Do

Be careful about how I judge others. Being judge and jury are two different things.
