Scripture:

MARK 13:32-37, MATTHEW 24:36-51, LUKE 21:34-38, MATTHEW 25:1-46

Servant Number Three

To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.

Matthew 25:29

My Take Aways

Something Old

I love Warren Wiersbe summary of the Matthew 25. Christ’s return means the time for:

  • separation (represented by the Ten Virgins)
  • evaluation (represented by the Servants)
  • condemnation (represented by the Sheep and the Goats)

Of this servant

I can do very little; it will not make much difference if I do nothing: I shall not be missed; my tiny push is not needed to turn the scale.” – F.B. Meyer

Thinking we can do little, not make much of a difference, will not be missed or our tiny push isn’t needed, reflects poorly our Creator God, for we are telling Him that there is something wrong with what He created.

  • We are created in the image of God, and therefore should be mindful of how we reflect Him.
  • We can do anything God calls us to, because of Christ in us.
  • We aren’t responsible for the return on the investment; we are only responsible for making the investment.

There are those who have things (like the servant with one talent), but hold them in such a way that it is as if they have nothing.” – David Guzik

He wasn’t ashamed at all. He seemed pleased that He had safely guarded what was the masters.

About Servant number three:

  • He didn’t lose it.
  • He didn’t misuse it.
  • He didn’t improve it.

Are Christians considered servants?

  • A Servant is one who carries out the will of another person. As Christians, we are to live, breathe, and move to do the will of the Father, so therefore, we are servants of God.

As God’s servants:

  • aren’t called to guard our gifts; we are called to glory God with them.
  • aren’t called to harbor our blessings; we called to help others with them.
  • will not give an account for our sins when we face our Father; but we will give account for the management of our investments.

Something New

The end is near. The enemy doesn’t want me to be ready. Wendy, don’t let the worries of this life distract you from the mission you are on, don’t be dulled to your calling.

Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware,
Luke 21:34

Something To Do

Don’t be servant number three.
