About Jesus

One of the men lying there had been sick for thirty-eight years.

John 5:5

My Take Aways

Something Old

What if Jesus had healed his heart, and opened his eyes, rather than restoring his ability to walk?

  • Jesus inquires.
Jesus asks questions, not because He doesn’t know the answers, but to make us think and make us seek. These questions are meant to afford the Spirit opportunity to work in us.
  • Jesus instructs.
Jesus gives instructions, and affords us the opportunity to submit. He is not a bully or a puppet master. He longs for us to submit out of the depths of love for Him.
  • Jesus intrudes.
Jesus intrudes the world system to afford a better alternative to what the prince of darkness offers. He longs to work in and through us so the world can see the Light.

To experience the miraculous:

  • Converse with Christ, don’t offer excuses, or ignore Him.
  • Comply with Christ, do what He says.
  • Conform to Christ, imitate Him so the world can see Him.

Something New

It all happened on the Sabbath.

So, the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”
John 5:10

Often what God asks us to do is counter-cultural and will cause controversy to those who are of the same Spirit as you.

Something To Do

Jesus Jesus Jesus, sweetest name I know.
