Scripture:

JOB 38:1-40:5

Storehouses of Snow

“Have you visited the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of hail? “Job 38:22

My Take Aways

Something Old

“Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.”
Job 38:2-3

Something New

  • Job has more mentions of snow, ice, and cold than any other biblical books.
  • Apart from Genesis 1-11, Job is probably the oldest book in the Bible.
  • Job 38:29-30
  • It would seem that Job lived at the time of an Ice Age.
  • Certain weather conditions are necessary for an Ice Age: warm oceans for high precipitation and cool summers for lack of melting snow.
  • The climatic state after the flood of Noah provided these exact conditions.
  • When Was the Ice Age in Biblical History? | Answers in Genesis
  • The evidence is all around us of God’s hand at work.
  • Presupposition: A thing tacitly assumed beforehand at the beginning of a line of argument or course of action.

Something To Do

What lens am I using to look at all things?

My own damaged eyes, the world’s tainted lens, or Biblical truth?

Look at the world through corrective lenses.
