Scripture:

JOB 26:1-29:25

Speaking Of The Former

Job continued speaking: “I long for the years gone by when God took care of me.”
Job 29:1-2

My Take Aways

Something Old

Speaking of the former:

  • Remembering the good old days, our past is important to our future. It helps stay grounded in who we are, who we are not, and most importantly how God has blessed, provided, and sustained us.
  • Idolizing and idealizing our past can cause us to miss the spiritual work God is doing in our present.
  • Pride is dangerous to those who seek righteousness and a right relationship with God.
  • Christians aren’t exempt, and shouldn’t expect not experiencing suffering in a sin- soaked world.
  • The God who blessed us in the past, is present with us in the now, and will lead us in our great future. Our past, including present suffering, is a precursor to the amazing new things God has in store for us.

Something New

Job 29:1-25

A truly humble person doesn’t use the pronoun “I” as often as Job has done.

Something To Do

God is in your story Wendy… every part, the suffering, the celebrations, the sorrows, and the joys.
