Our hardships are more likely a result of wrong decisions rather than of God sitting on His throne throwing down destruction. We can trust that God has forgiven our sin, but can be certain that He does not remove our consequences.

Consider: to think carefully about, especially in order to make a decision; contemplate; reflect on:
Seek God for the answer.
Consider and accept the answer with joy.
My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
