Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So, one day Jacob had a special gift made for Joseph—a beautiful robe.
Genesis 37:3
How do I act when someone else gets the “coat?”
How do I act when I am someone else?
The brothers and Joseph teach us:
“Your son”, not “our brother” says so much as to what they thought of Joseph.
And who took the coat to Jacob? Often when we are wrong, we get someone else involved, and maybe get them to do the dirty work.
They sent the beautiful robe to their father with this message: “Look at what we found. Doesn’t this robe belong to your son?”
Genesis 37:32
Learn from the from all the brothers. Be careful, very aware of myself, whether I am the someone wearing the coat, or the someone who is around the one who received the coat.
