This is the account of the descendants of Esau (also known as Edom).
Genesis 36:1
These are the kings who ruled in the land of Edom before any king ruled over the Israelites:
Genesis 36:31
God keeps His Word. He told Rebekah her sons would become two nations. We are a product, people of the promise.
- And the Lord told her, “The sons in your womb will become two nations. From the very beginning, the two nations will be rivals. One nation will be stronger than the other; and your older son will serve your younger son.”
Genesis 25:23
- If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:29
We find our place in:
- eternity, because we are sons and daughters of God.
- society, because we are brothers and sisters in the family of God.
- history, because we are part of God’s plan of the ages, related spiritually to Abraham by our faith in Jesus.
~ David Guzik
Those things included in our spiritual inheritance we can continually draw from now are as follows:
- All things that pertain unto life and godliness
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3 - Partakers of the divine nature of Christ
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
2 Peter 1:4 - Power and anointing in the Holy Spirit
But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
1 John 2:27 - Forgiveness of sins and freedom from guilt
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
1 John 1:9 - Divine health and healing
This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.”
Matthew 8:17 - Freedom from poverty – assurance that our needs will be met
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19 - Love, joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Spirit
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 14:17 - Victory and freedom from the bondage of sin
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Romans 8:11 - More than conquerors in all things
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Romans 8:37 - An abundance of grace for every good work
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
2 Corinthians 9:8 - An understanding of the mystery of God’s will
God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan.
Ephesians 1:9 - Divine guidance
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
Romans 8:14 - Co-laborers with God
For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:9 - Seated in heavenly places with Christ
For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:6
~ Ken Birks
God is a promise keeper so let’s live like people of the promise:
- People who believe the promises.
- People who receiver the promises.
- People who live the promises.
Live and believe like people of the promise.
