Then I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for several days. Afterward I got up and performed my duties for the king, but I was greatly troubled by the vision and could not understand it.
Daniel 8:27
Regardless of what I do or don’t understand, I need to focus on what is most important.
- His Kingdom will last forever. (Revelation 11:15)
- We will live forever. (John 5:24)
- I need to be about the King’s and Kingdom’s business. (Luke 2:49)
He said to them, “Why did you have to look for me? Didn’t you know that I had to be concerning myself with my Father’s affairs?” But they didn’t understand what he meant. Luke 2:49 (CJB)
What is our King’s business?
- “…’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:30-31 (NIV)
- “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20
We have to be diligent, and not become distracted or sidetracked from the mission.
- Glorify Christ with our life.
- Grow the Kingdom.
Earlier, during the first year of King Belshazzar’s reign in Babylon, Daniel had a dream and saw visions as he lay in his bed. He wrote down the dream, and this is what he saw.
Daniel 7:1
During the third year of King Belshazzar’s reign, I, Daniel, saw another vision, following the one that had already appeared to me.
Daniel 8:1
Did Daniel go an entire year without a vision?
