My Takeaways

Something Old

But is a conjunction, a word that joins to phrases. There are many lesser known definitions for the word in the British Dictionary.

But can be: (who knew)

  • the outer or front room of a house; the outer or front apartment in an apartment house.
  • the kitchen of a two-room dwelling, especially of a cottage.

And is also defined as:

  • contrary to expectation

Reread 1 Chronicles 5:18-24 to find traits that describe the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh

  • Skilled
  • Armed
  • Cried out to God
  • Trusted God
  • Leaders with great reputations.

But: V25

But these tribes were unfaithful to the God of their ancestors. They worshiped the gods of the nations that God had destroyed.

  • Trust and unfaithfulness cannot hold hands.
  • We can’t sit down and dine at a table God has turned over.” – Unknown
  • Either I am faithful or I am not.

Something New

Even those on the east side of the Jordan were taken captive.

So, the God of Israel caused King Pul of Assyria (also known as Tiglath-pileser) to invade the land and take away the people of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh as captives.
1 Chronicles 15:26

Something To Do

Stay faithful to God, because He is always faithful to me.
