Scripture:

NEHEMIAH 7:4-8:12

Oh The Joy

So, the people went away to eat and drink at a festive meal, to share gifts of food, and to celebrate with great joy because they had heard God’s words and understood them.
Nehemiah 8:12

My Takeaways

Something Old

There is no joy like the

  • joy of the Lord.
  • understanding the Word of the Lord.
  • Spirit of God working in your life.

Imagine how they must have felt hearing AND understanding the Word.

  • Do you remember the first time you heard the Bible taught in a way you could understand?
  • Do you remember the first time you understood a Biblical truth through your own study?

Things to think about:

  • When we get caught up in what we don’t understand, we aren’t free to live out what we do understand.
  • However, we are not without excuse to learn the Word. We have countless resources, various translations, and the best teacher… Holy Spirit.
  • If you aren’t learning the Word, then make the changes necessary so that you are learning.

Something New

So, my God gave me the idea to call together all the nobles and leaders of the city, along with the ordinary citizens, for registration. I had found the genealogical record of those who had first returned to Judah.
Nehemiah 7:5

I wonder where Nehemiah found the genealogical records.

Something To Do

Study the Bible. Obey the Bible. Live in the joy that these provide.
