This man had a very beautiful and lovely young cousin, Hadassah, who was also called Esther. When her father and mother died, Mordecai adopted her into his family and raised her as his own daughter.
Esther 2:7

What would have happened to the nation of Israel had Mordecai not loved and nurtured Esther?

Who we love and nurture matters.

• But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless.

• Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
  James 1:27 (ESV)

How would things be different for our nation if Christians practiced the same pure religion as Uncle Mordecai?

I love the confident faith Mordecai has in God to deliver the nation of Israel, if not through Esther, but through some other means.
