Unforgiveness: A Torment Of My Own Making

Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.
Matthew 18:34

My Takeaways

Something Old

“Everyone says forgiveness is a lovely idea, until they have something to forgive.” – C.S. Lewis

“To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” – C.S. Lewis

Unforgiveness: is

  • torment of our own making, while forgiveness is a relief of our own making.
  • a prison for the offended, while forgiveness is liberation for the offended.

It’s my choice to live liberated or tormented.

Don’t live in torment. The offender has stolen enough. Don’t let them take my freedom and peace of mind.

Great quotes… Unknown author

  • “Forgiveness doesn’t excuse the offense; it prevents the behavior from destroying the offended.”
  • “Unforgiveness chains us to our past, poisons are present, and keeps us from the future the Lord has for us.”

If all I see is the offense of someone, I will never receive the blessings of God.

God will allow us to live there, in the torment. Freedom and peace are in our hands.

Something New

Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, “Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?”
Mark 9:28

Whose house were they in?

Something To Do

Don’t live in torment. The offender has stolen enough. Don’t let them take my freedom and peace of mind.
