For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Romans 3:23

Circumcision was a sign that Abraham already had faith and that God had already accepted him and declared him to be righteous even before he was circumcised. So, Abraham is the spiritual father of those who have faith, but have not been circumcised. They are counted as righteous because of their faith.

Do I justify my sin?

“But,” some might say, “our sinfulness serves a good purpose, for it helps people see how righteous God is. Isn’t it unfair, then, for him to punish us?” (This is merely a human point of view.)

Abraham demonstrated real faith.
Belief in God.
Obedience to God.
Fulfillment by God.
Jesus made us as right with God as we need to be. It’s up to us to live in the accomplished work of the cross, power of the Word, and the freedom of the Spirit.
Belief comes before obedience.
Obedience is our response to our faith.
Fulfillment follows our obedience.
Because of my faith, I am made right, as right as I will ever be.
In our hearts we know and believe Jesus fulfilled the Law, yet in our heads we bind ourselves to a new kind of law: performance-based righteousness. We fall for the lie that believing isn’t enough.
We have complicated our faith by added worldly standards to it;
Works equals fulfillment.
Accomplishment equals reward.
Everything has a cost…. Free can’t be. Faith can’t be free.
Jesus made us as right with God as we need to be. It’s up to us to live in the accomplished work of the cross, power of the Word, and the freedom of the Spirit
