Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:19
I can’t even imagine what kind of chaos will break out when Holy Spirit releases His restraining.
For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way
2 Thessalonians 2:7 (NLT)
For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way.
2 Thessalonians 2:7 (AMPC)
“Yet a flame can be extinguished when it is ignored and no longer tended, or when the flame is overwhelmed by something else.” – David Guzik- Enduringword.com
Sbénnymi sben’-noo-mee (sben-knew-me) to quench, to suppress, stifle; of divine influence
Let’s have a short vocab lesson.
I stifle, suppress, quench the Spirit’s work in my life when I:
Just like a fire has to be tended to, and fueled in order to maintain heat and flames we have to tend to and fuel our relationship with God through our relationship with Holy Spirit.
Nothing compares to Holy Spirit in my life. He is for me, always. I should welcome Him at all times.
