Scripture:

ACTS 10:1-12:5

Fandom and Fame

As Peter entered his home, Cornelius fell at his feet and worshiped him.
Acts 10:25

My Takeaways

Something Old

“Oh, that the Spirit of God would in the same manner interrupt us!” – Charles Spurgeon

Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.
Acts 10:44

Something New

Have you ever gotten to meet someone you only knew of, but had never met.

Words to be aware of:

  • Famous: widespread reputation, especially of a favorable character; renown; public eminence:
  • Fan: an enthusiastic devotee, follower, or admirer of a sport, pastime, celebrity, etc.:
  • Fandom: whole is a subculture that celebrates a mutual bond formed between people over a book series, TV show, movie, band, or other form of pop culture.

Good investigative questions to ask ourselves.

  • How do I handle fandom?
  • How do I receive fame?
  • To who or what do I bow?
  • Who or what do I worship?

Something To Do

Be careful with fame and fandom. Both are dangerous and tools of the enemy to distract us from making Jesus famous.
