Making Changes

Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
Psalm 6:8

My Takeaways

Something Old

Repentance is a change of heart, that leads to a change of mind, that lead to a change of direction.

How serious is my repentance to me?

Am I willing to:

  • sever that relationship?
  • stop going to that place?
  • shutdown that activity?

Would I be willing to give an explanation as to why the relationship can’t continue, I’m not able to participate in that activity, or go to that place?

A few of our favorite people in the Bible had something to say about repentance.

  • Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
    Proverbs 28:13 (ESV) (Solomon speaking)
  • I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
    Luke 5:32 (ESV) (Jesus speaking)
  • Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,
    Acts 3:19 (ESV) (Peter speaking)
  • Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
    Romans 2:4 (Paul speaking)
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse usfrom all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 (ESV) (John speaking)

Investigative Prayer

  • Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
    Psalm 139:23-24 (TLB)

Something New

What if I ended every prayer with “The LORD has heard my plea; The LORD will answer my prayer” Psalm 6:9?

I think I’ll try it and find out.

Something To Do

Do I dare pray the investigative prayer and follow through with what brings to my mind?

Conclude my prayers with Psalm 6:9.
