Scripture:

PSALM 83, 1 CHRONICLES 29:23-25, 2 CHRONICLES 1:1, 1 KINGS 2:13-3:4, 2 CHRONICLES 1:2-6, 1 KINGS 3:5-15, 2 CHRONICLES 1:7-13

Spiritually Wise Decision Making

Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and married one of his daughters. He brought her to live in the City of David until he could finish building his palace and the Temple of the Lord and the wall around the city.
1 Kings 3:1

My Takeaways

Something Old

Nothing is worth jeopardizing my spiritual well-being.

We make knee-jerk, emotional-driven, life-altering decisions without giving thought to the spiritual consequences the decision could have on us or future generations to come.

Steps to good godly decision making:

  • Count the costs, all the costs.
  • Consult the Lord.
  • Compare my options with scriptures.
  • Cover the decision in prayer.
  • Celebrate God and His faithfulness while you wait

Head-scratcher:

Solomon married wrongly, yet God still chose to bless Him. (1 Kings 3: 10-14)

Something New

How old was Solomon? What if we all showed the humility of young Solomon?“Now, O Lord my God, You have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around.“
1 King 3:7

Something To Do

Be spiritually-wise: Don’t jeopardize my spiritual well-being and that of the future generations.
