Scripture:

NUMBERS 22:1-24:25

Speaking Donkey

Then the LORD gave the donkey the ability to speak, “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam.
Numbers 22:28

My Takeaways

Something Old

Further information about Balaam and the Donkey

Today, God speaks through

  • Pastors, podcasts, praise, print, and any possible way necessary to get the attention of His children.
  • His revealed Word… He reveals what He wants us to know.
  • Holy Spirit.

What I’ve learned:

  • God speaks to those who make an effort to know and hear Him.
  • God speaks to those He can trust to obey what He says.
  • God speaks through circumstances, counsel from people we know, people we don’t know.
  • God speaks through a peaceless spirit.

And… quite possibly… a donkey.

How can I confirm that it is God speaking and I am not following my own thoughts?

When God is speaking you experience:

  • Peace without any anxiety.
    (The peace that is unexplainable.)
  • Peace with anxiety.
(The anxiety doesn’t steal your peace.)
  • Cautious confidence
(You are confident in the unknown.)
  • Nervous energy
(So excited and so nervous at the same time.)
  • Questions without answers
(But these unanswered questions don’t rattle you.)
  • Confused clarity
(The plan/step makes sense one minute, and the next minute the plan/step doesn’t make sense)

Something New

But Balaam replied to Balak, “Didn’t I tell you that I can do only what the Lord tells me?”
Numbers 23:26

What if every believer made this their goal?

Something To Do

Oh, Lord, help me to make Numbers 23:26 the anthem my soul sings everyday
