Scripture:

NUMBERS 16:1-18:32

God Equips the Called

He had hardly finished speaking the words when the ground suddenly split open beneath them. The earth opened its mouth and swallowed the men, along with their households and all their followers who were standing with them, and everything they owned. So they went down alive into the grave, along with all their belongings. The earth closed over them, and they all vanished from among the people of Israel. All the people around them fled when they heard their screams. “The earth will swallow us, too!” they cried. Then fire blazed forth from the Lord and burned up the 250 men who were offering incense.
Numbers 16:31-35

My Takeaways

Something Old

When he went into the Tabernacle of the Covenant the next day, he found that Aaron’s staff, representing the tribe of Levi, had sprouted, budded, blossomed, and produced ripe almonds!
Numbers 17:8

Something New

  • Korah was the grandson of Kohath of the tribe of Levi.
  • Moses and Aaron were also of the tribe of Levi.
  • Korah thought he should be in charge.
  • God had already appointed leaders.
  • Moses proposed a test to prove his authority was from God.
  • Korah did not pass.
  • God did not call Korah; God called Moses.
  • God calls whom He chooses.
  • God equips the called for service.
  • Service is to the glory of God, not for our own sake.

Something To Do

Be thankful for my own calling, and be obedient in it…do not be envious of the calling of others.
