My Takeaways

Something Old

Today’s heading: A Call for Wholehearted Commitment

To what and/or whom am I wholeheartedly committed? How am I demonstrated that commitment?

Something New

There’s something mysterious about prayer:

  • Desperation turns to confidence
  • Sadness turns to joy
  • Anxiety turns to peace
  • Prayer to praise

Pray with

  • Thanksgiving
literally, “the giving of thanks for God’s grace.
  • Specifically,
praying for a specific, felt need – heart-felt petition, arising out of deep personal need (sense of lack, want)
  • Belief… in God, not the person, or situation
    Believe that God:
is the giver of good things. (Matthew 7:11)
would not give me anything harmful. (Matthew 7:9)
can even if He doesn’t. (Mark 9:23-24) “If I can” healing the boy.
  • Trust
that God knows best, and desires only the best for you.
  • Persistent
The woman seeking justice from the King (Luke 18).
  • Confession
    Psalm 139:23-24.
  • Humility
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. James 4:10 (NIV)
  • Authority
    Pray His Word.
    Pray His Name.

The What Ifs?

  • What if I don’t receive an answer when we want?
    Keep praying.
  • What if I don’t receive the answer that I want?
    Keep praying.
  • What if I don’t know what to pray?
    Keep praying
  • What if I am mad at God? Disappointed with God?
    Keep praying
  • What if God is silent?
Keep praying… and possibly, be silent

Praying friends and family make a difference, it made a difference to Aaron.

Something To Do

Keep praying and remember some conversations need be kept just between me and One who has the power and wisdom to answer.
