But if you fail to drive out the people who live in the land, those who remain will be like splinters in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will harass you in the land where you live.
Numbers 33:55

If we have found favor with you, please let us have this land as our property instead of giving us land across the Jordan River. Numbers 32:5

Never choose instead when God’s best is right across the river.

Arrival at my place of promise doesn’t give me a pass to make my own decisions.

• Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.Proverbs 3:5 (NIV)
• Those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe. Proverbs 28:26

Warning: When I get to my place of promise, I’m still expected to follow all of God’s instructions.

Failing to follow God’s full and complete instructions will cause splinters in my life.

What’s like to have something in your eye?

• Obscures you vision.
• Throws you off balance.
• Causes you pain.
• Makes your eyes water.

These same symptoms are exhibited in my life when I fail to follow God’s instructions.
