When I Am Overwhelmed

LORD, hear my prayer! Listen to my plea!
Psalm 102:1

My Takeaways

Something Old

When I’m overwhelmed with trouble. Have a pity party for one. Get it out, all of it.

  • Beg God to hear your prayer and not to turn away from you. (Psalm 102:1)
  • Ask for a quick answer. (Psalm 102:2)
  • Explain your situation, giving as much detail as you’d like. (Psalm 102:3-11)
  • Tell God You know who He is and you know where He sits. (Psalm 102:12)
  • Remind Yourself and God of His faithfulness. (Psalm 102:18-26)
  • Praise Him for never changing. (Psalm 102:27)

What a great hope for us!

No matter how bad things become, personally, locally, or nationally

  • The LORD
  • is still on His throne… forever (102:12)
  • will live forever and never change. (102:27)

Pity parties are spiritually healthy, but if not handled properly, can be fleshly dangerous, that can lead to spiritual danger. Have my party, don’t invite others, and move on.

Something New

Recording the goodness of God builds the case for journaling.Let this be recorded for future generations, so that a people not yet born will praise the LORD.
Psalm 102:18

Something To Do

Have my party and move on.I know this isn’t spiritual, but it’s OK to enjoy it.
