This is what the LORD says: “Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’“
Jeremiah 6:16
Rest for your souls.
- the refreshing quiet or repose of sleep
- refreshing ease or inactivity after exertion or labor
- relief or freedom, especially from anything that wearies, troubles, or disturbs
- a period or interval of inactivity, repose, solitude, or tranquility
Could it be that I am restless because I took a wrong turn at the crossroads?
- Crossroads: a point at which a vital decision must be made.
Could it be that I:
- didn’t ask for the godly way?
But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
Matthew 6:33 (AMPC)
- decided not to walk in godly way that was revealed.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’
Jeremiah 6:16
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
John 14:26 (ESV)
