The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
Isaiah 61:1-2a

I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness.
Isaiah 61:10a

• Isaiah continues the “good news” portion of His prophecy.
• “Glory” is all about what Messiah will do.
• Isaiah tells how we will know the Messiah.
• Isaiah 61:1-2
• Jesus says He will fulfill the prophecy.
• The people wanted the Messiah to bring them into material wealth and freedom from oppression.
• Jesus announces that His coming is the “good news” of Isaiah.
• Luke 4:15-21
• Jesus tells John the Baptist that He has fulfilled the prophecy.
• John had proclaimed that the Messiah will judge. Isaiah 61:2b
• Jesus tells John that He has done what Isaiah said…and more!
• Luke 7:18-23; Matthew 11:2-6
• Jesus is the Expected One.

Know what Jesus said He came to do versus what people say. Know that He meets us wherever we are.
