Scripture:

2 KINGS 20:1-11, ISAIAH 38:1-8, 2 CHRONICLES 32:24:31, ISAIAH 38:9-22, 2 KINGS 20:12-19, ISAIAH 39:1-8

The Kindness Of God

But Hezekiah did not respond appropriately to the kindness shown him, and he became proud.
2 Chronicles 32:25a

My Takeaways

Something Old

Our response to God’s grace

  • will be noticed by Him.
Hezekiah did not live with gratitude but with attitude.
  • should be a renewed devotion to Him.
Hezekiah’s praise (Isaiah 9:9-22) was short lived.
  • is a life lived like we didn’t deserve, but grateful we received it from Him.
Hezekiah was prideful and showed “all he had” to the Babylonian visitors.

What we freely and undeservedly receive, we should readily freely and undeservedly give.

Something New

Isaiah to Hezekiah:
Some of your very own sons will be taken away into exile. They will become eunuchs who will serve in the palace of Babylon’s king.
2 Kings 20:18

Hezekiah to Isaiah:

Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “This message you have given me from the Lord is good.” For the king was thinking, “At least there will be peace and security during my lifetime.
2 Kings 20:19

Not sure I have words for Hezekiah’s uncaring response about the future his sons would face.

Something To Do

Celebrate the kindness of God. Praise Him continually kindness.
