Scripture:

GENESIS 21:8-23:20, GENESIS 11:32, GENESIS 24:1-67

The Lord Will Provide

Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket. So he took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering in place of his son. Abraham named the place Yahweh-Yireh (which means “the Lord will provide”). To this day, people still use that name as a proverb: “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
Genesis 22:13-14

My Takeaways

Something Old

“O LORD, God of my master, Abraham,” he prayed. “Please give me success today, and show unfailing love to my master, Abraham.”
Genesis 24:12

Something New

Abraham’s years of waiting were done.

Abraham learned to trust God during those years.

His journey of faith was often one step forward, and two steps back.

Jehovah Jireh: The Lord will Provide

Genesis 22: Isaac/Ram

Exodus 12-13: Passover; The Firstborn of Israel/Unblemished lamb or goat

Leviticus 16: Day of Atonement; Israel/Animals, Ram

Revelation 5: Sinners/Jesus

Isaac asks, “Where is the lamb for the sacrifice?”

Abraham believed the Lord will provide for Himself the sacrifice.

John 1:29: “Behold! The Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world!”

Something To Do

Remember that the Lord provided for Himself a Lamb.
