Scripture:

GENESIS 15:1-17:27

Promises

Then the LORD took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD counted him as righteous because of his faith.
Genesis 15: 5-6

My Takeaways

Something Old

Then God said to Abraham, “Your responsibility is to obey the terms of the covenant. You and all your descendants have this continual responsibility. This is the covenant that you and your descendants must keep: Each male among you must be circumcised.
Genesis 17: 9-10

Something New

God had made promises to Abram.

He had promised a place….land.

He had promised a people…a nation.

He had promised a purpose…to be a blessing.

He had promised a position…an instrument of the blessing.

Abram doubted.

God in His lovingkindness, came to Abram to confirm the promise.

In the middle of stars and silence, Abram believed.

Adonai: gives more of a hint of God’s role in Abram’s life; master; lord; sovereign.

Abram believed not just in the promises of God, but in the God of the promises.

Something To Do

May I read His Word to learn more about Him, and believe.
