And Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest of God Most High, brought Abram some bread and wine. Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.” Then Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all the goods he had recovered.
Genesis 14:18-20
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12: 1-3
Melchizedek shows up out of nowhere!
He doesn’t seem important, but he is.
Melchizedek was king of Salem.
Melchizedek was a priest of God Most High.
El Elyon: God Most High
David spoke of Messiah as a priest of the order of Melchizedek. Psalm 110:4
Hebrews 5:10 speaks of Jesus as a priest in the order of Melchizedek.
Jesus is not a priest from the order of Levi.
Jesus is not a priest by bloodline.
Jesus is a priest because of who He is.
Melchizedek is described as being a priest forever. Hebrews 7:3
The priesthood was forever, not Melchizedek.
The priesthood of Jesus is forever.
Christ’s priesthood is unshakeable, indestructible, and eternal.
Jesus makes it possible for me to approach God.
May I approach God daily, because Jesus has made it possible!
