But do people know where to find wisdom? Where can they find understanding?
Job 28:12, 20
God tells us exactly how to find wisdom.
And this is what He says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’
Job 28:28
The fear of the Lord is the:
- Respect and awe for God
Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
Psalm 33:8 ESV - Awareness of always being in the presence of our holy God
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So, they are without excuse.
Romans 1:20 ESV - Understanding God sees everything we do, hears everything we say, and knows our motives behind everything
O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
Psalm 139:1-4 ESV - Desire to live in according to His standards
If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
John 14:15 ESV - Forsaking of evil
And stay away from everything that is evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 ERV
Accepting that:
- His Word as the source to all life’s questions and concerns.
- His correction is for my good and His glory comes from a heart of love.
- His ways and thoughts are higher than mine.
- His wisdom is revealed on a need to know basis.
Evil people may have piles of money and may store away mounds of clothing. But the righteous will wear that clothing and the innocent will divide that money.
Job 27:16-17
I can’t wait until the innocent wear the clothing and divide the money of the evil.
Live to fear the Lord, and live the life He desires for me.
