Scripture:

JOB 8:1-11:20

Mediator

“God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial. If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of his punishment. Then I could speak to him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength.”
Job 9:32-35

My Takeaways

Something Old

“If only he would tell you the secrets of wisdom, for true wisdom is not a simple matter. Listen! God is doubtless punishing you far less than you deserve!”
Job 11:6

Something New

  • Job wanted to take God to court.
  • Job wanted to be proven innocent.
  • God is too powerful and too perfect for Job to accuse.
  • Job wants a mediator.
  • That is the Plan.
  • Only a Mediator who is fully God and fully man can reconcile.
  • The Mediator would not choose sides.
  • The Cross shows that Jesus didn’t come to take sides but to bring reconciliation.
  • 1 Timothy 2:5
  • Jesus was crucified by men.
  • Jesus was crushed by God.
  • The Mediator brought us peace with God.

Something To Do

Continue to remember the reconciliation that I have been given by the Mediator, as I explain to others that the same reconciliation is available for them.
