Scripture:

GENESIS 37:1-38:30, 1 CHRONICLES 2:3-6, 1 CHRONICLES 2:8, GENESIS 39:1-23

Contrast and Continuation

About this time, Judah left home and moved to Adullam, where he stayed with a man named Hirah. Genesis 38:1When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
Genesis 39:1

My Takeaways

Something Old

The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.
Genesis 39:23

Something New

  • Nothing bad is recorded about Joseph.
  • His brothers are a mess!
  • Joseph is faithful.
  • His brothers are failures.
  • Joseph is a man of integrity.
  • His brothers have no morals.
  • This contrast is vast.
  • We are also shown a genealogical background.
  • This is to continue the story of God’s Rescue Plan.
  • The Bible is not full of people doing everything right.
  • The Bible is full of people in desperate need of a Savior.
  • The Bible is full of people that fail, that God graciously used in spite of who they were.
  • The very people in need of a Savior, will be the ones God uses to bring Him.
  • Matthew 1

Something To Do

May I continue to look with wonder and awe at the record God has given me to show how He will bring Jesus into the world.
